Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hal

The Forbidden City Concert Hall is located to the west of the Forbidden City and north to the Tiananmen Square. It lies within the grounds of the Zhongshan Park, originally known as Shejitan, or the Altar of Land and Grain, which is part of the Forbidden City, the largest and most completely reserved ancient palace complex in the world. Therefore, it is also known as the “music pearl in the Chinese royal palace” among musicians at home and abroad. Its geographical location and cultural environment help nurture a unique charm out of this concert. First built in 1942, renovated from 1997 and completed as a brand-new architecture in April, 1999, the Forbidden City Concert Hall now serves as a venue with good acoustics for elegant and professional classical music performances for Beijing audiences.
