The Shanghai Poly Grand Theater is located in the downtown Jiading New City of Shanghai. Opposite to the Yuanxiang Lake, it is a brand new art palace in the western part of Shanghai. Designed by the well-known architect Tadao Ando, it is a public space for art communication, where nature, architecture, art, and humanity are harmonious and compatible with each other. Since its operation in 2014, the theater has seen increased performances of plays of a high artistic value, with more than 200 performances per year.
The theater has a 1,466-seat grand theater, a 400-seat small one, one rooftop theater and China’s first waterscape theater. It houses 23 dressing rooms and five VIP rooms.
The Shanghai Poly Grand Theater has perfect auxiliary facilities and advanced stage technical equipment, which has enabled it to host best performing groups from all over the world. It has become another cultural name card and one of the important art exchange platforms in Shanghai, and played an indispensable driving role for the city’s economic and cultural development.
